Sperandio Savelli
Sperando Savelli is one of the greatest names among Renaissance medal makers. Born in Mantua, probably before 1441, he first appears as a goldsmith in Ferarra, lived in Mantua, Milan, and then again in Ferarra where he worked as a sculptor and architect. He died in 1504.
On the medal is the image of Andrea Barbazza, a prominent lawyer at various Renaissance royal courts. He was also the adviser of John II, the King of Aragon around 1466. His last residence was in Bologna where he died in 1749.
