Marshal Marmont Memorial Medal
In 1906 Napoleon appointed General Marmont as the military commander of Dalmatia. At that time Marmont was a young but very experienced military general, with many great battles behind him – in Italy, Egypt and Germany.
In order to embellish Split, Marmont ordered the demolishing of the forts and ramparts in the south-western part of the city.
