Medal awarded to pupils of the Archdiocesan Seminary of Split, 1814
The Archdiocesan Seminary in Split was founded by the Archbishop of Split Stjepan Cosmi, and served to educate and train many pupils and students from Split and all of Dalmatia. The Seminary was placed in a house donated by the canon Dujam Cuppareo (Kuparić).
As the funds for it were insured, on 25th March 1700, on the Annunciation feast, the Seminary was officially opened along with the classical gymnasium in the building on today’s Foscolovo poljana and in Nelipić Street. The Seminary operated in this building all until 1868 when a new building was constructed at its current location.
